#TiaTripToSurabaya With My Girls

4-5 Juli I go to Surabaya with my girls CMT and CKP. CMT called S and CKP called P.

Quick info, the three of us is supposed to go to Jogja, as we already planned months ago. Sadly something came up, that I will go to Jogja with my mom instead, so she’s not allowed me to go to Jogja twice in this holiday. Also because we not really sure about transportation there because the good site its far away from the downtown. So there you go our plan to Jogja, only stay as a plan.

After knowing that we can’t go, the plan fade away and we not making any backup plan or changing our destination. One month left before the school holiday over, S suddenly contact us like “Lets go to Surabaya”. She said that when I was in Toraja and already planned to go to Jakarta 1 week after go back home. I still agree to go tho, since I know that travel with them to Surabaya (which is near with my hometown) maybe only for 1-3 days so my schedule wont crash. So my travel to Surabaya is between my trip to Toraja and my trip to Jakarta. We also only spent one night tho in Surabaya, and at the end, we wish we stayed longer. Okays so lets begin the journey.

S text me and P in 29 June, ask us “lets go to Surabaya” for departure on 4 July. That was a short time for preparation and planning. But we made it, with affordable price and good place too. In 29 and 30 June we are discussing about the transport to get there and to get back home and the hotel. Discussing discussing discussing, we finally get an agreement. Happy with the price, each of us then ask for our parents permission. The three of us got the permission yeay!

After the transport and hotel, there come “where to go?”, “doing what?” and “how we get there?” problem. Each of us searching in google, instagram and even asking to friend that lives in Surabaya about what a good place to go, or even must go or food must try. We got a lot of option there, but we have to sort it down, since we only got  half day in Surabaya. Since our hotel is in the center of Surabaya, we shorten our option that close by our hotel so the cost for the transport wont be so expensive.

The day has come when we finally departing from Malang to Surabaya. Tuesday, 4th July 2017, departing from Malang Station, each of us depart from our own house and meet in the station. While S already in the station, I just finish my shower and just get in to the public transport. In half of my way, P, apparently already arrived too. Then both of them keep asking “where are you?”. When I finally depart, we get in to the train right away. Apparently both S and P are worry because they already call our train to get in. Thanks God I arrived just in time.

In the train, I sit next to S, we share stories and everything else. While P, she sit alone and chatting in her phone and smiling her own. Since her close “boy”friend is having birthday that day. Arriving in Surabaya, we stop in the wrong terminal, and we should across the train rail to get in the right terminal. We then walking from the terminal to our hotel. In google map, it said walking will takes 15 minutes. Just information, Surabaya is really hot, so just in my first 5 minutes of walking I already sweating LOL. Also there is this funny thing happen, near the old station of Gubeng Surabaya, there is this road with kinda confusing crossing road. P, she is so aware and careful, while me, I’m a girl with gut and not afraid, brave and bold. So when we want to cross the road, its already green for us pedestrian, but we not sure how long will it last. P, she be like “wait wait wait” while I keep walking and said “come on. Its green!”. Then both of them follow me to cross the first side. Now we still have to cross the other side of the road. Again, when we want to cross, the light is already green and we dont know how long the duration. But I just like “screw the time, lets cross this, its green and its hot here. Faster better”. Yet P, once again like “wait wait wait”, but she eventually follow me crossing LOL.  After we finish the crossing stuff, I realized that P maybe scared when we cross the street and the vehicle will start moving because her clothes is green. While me, in the other hand, I wear red. So I’m not scared if the vehicle moving, since my clothes is already indicate them to stop. Hahaha, its just funny the fact that our clothes related with the traffic light and affect us when crossing the road.

Arriving in the hotel, that I booked with price 197.000, but apparently we have to pay extra of 50.000, because there are 3 of us. S & P then take a bath and then we go to our first destination “Aiola Eatery”. We take the grab and pay for like Rp 19.000 . We go to Aiola Eatery because S friend and my friend both give us suggestion to go here. But when we got there, its kinda disappointing. I think its a comfortable, cozy place, and instragramable, yet what I got its dirty place, hot, and its apparently kinda like a food court. With a lot of stand, then we have to take a look around and order, and pay in the cashier. I personally not recommend it tho.

Disappointed with Aiola Eatery, we just order fried rice and right away change our destination. The nearest one is “Babe Street”. We just walk to there, its really close, like not even 5 minutes of walk. Babe Street its also one of the recommednation from S’s friend. When we arrive, then this is what I’m talking about. A proper cafe that using AC, comfortable, clean, cozy and instagram able. Altough if you compare the price Aiola is way more cheap than Babe St. Babe St also give 10% tax and 5% service tax. Even tough the Babe St is more expensive, but personally I will recommended you to go there.

this is just the semi-outdoor room

semi outdoor room/smoking room

After from Babe St, which already like at 4 afternoon, we order the grab and go to Surabaya North Quay. This one is so far away up there, so it takes like 30 minutes from Babe St. We pay for like Rp 40.000. We want to go there, because its said the sunset there was pretty. My expectation would be a beautifull sunset with some boat complete the beautifull sunset scenery. But when we go there, I think we already missed the sunset, we only got a few light left. And it means we dont get the great picture either and my expectation not fullfilled. Getting worse because when we order grab to go back downtown, the fee is turn to almost Rp 50.000. I felt bad, because we have to pay Rp.100.000 to get there, to get in and to get back, but we got nothing.
the sunset goes down to fast, with the light left and accompany with the boat

Going to the next place with disappointment, we moving on and go to Tunjungan Plaza. To be honest, this wasn’t my first time I visit Tunjungan Plaza. But I never realized how so damn big it is. Now, after I don’t know how many times I ever been here, I will definitely remember this huge mall. A mall, with 5 mall in it, with huge parking space too. What I conclude, I think you will definitely tired if you start from TP 1 until TP 5, even if its only a window shopping. Me and S, we kinda like “we should go back, and spent full one day here”. The one who have the idea to go here, its actually me hehe. Because, I want to go buy this look alike famous Japan cheesecake, Fuwa-fuwa Cheesecake. The exact location is TP 3, 5th floor, not really far from Food Court.

Well, to be honest, buy this cheesecake kinda like my main reason why I want to go to Surabaya.  I’ve seen this cake often on my instagram explore, it makes me dying ant to taste it. Sadly in Malang, there is no store sell this kind of cake. How happy I am can finally buy it and taste it for real. The cake was so soft and tender. The price Rp 80.000 is reasonable for me, because its rare anywhere in Indonesia, the size is medium, the cake was so soft and so damn delicious too. If I go back to Surabaya again, I would definitely buy some more. They also sell matcha and chocolate flavour and in small size too.  Altough, tat day, there is one thing that I regret. I wish I come to the store tomorrow, because they make a sale Rp 10.000 for each cake :’’’( DAMN IT!
its my delicious fuwa-fuwa and on the right are S and P searching clothes

Okay, so I got what I want, now its time to get what they (S and P) want. Both of my girls is fashionable girl, unlike me who careless about my looks. So, for a fashionable girl, there is no better place than Mall for shopping or even just window shopping. So while I’m just window shopping (obviously) and carry-ing my cheesecake, both of them strolling the store one by one, checking out the outfits. Sometime I also check out the clotches, but not the size nor the style or colour but the price. Gosh! They are all expensive haha. Thanks God, I’m not into anything there. I rather spent my money on food than clothes hahaha. At the end none of them buy the clothes, specially me and P, because knowing the price is always high, we then played "Guess The Price" in each item that I think available in way more cheap price in small store in the market, and P guess the price. It was fun, specially the part when I reveal the price, because its so expensive and we both laugh or shocked with the price tag haha.

When we arrive in TP, we actually get in from TP 5. Buy the Fuwa-fuwa cheesecake in TP 3 and strolling around the store in TP 3. Just doing all that, we got so freakin tired and finally we decided to go back from where we go in, to TP5. Then we have a little discuss where we go next, since its already around 9 p.m. and some of us is hungry. We then decide that we will go to nearest KFC. We order the grab again with fee only Rp 9.000. The driver that night told us, we actually can just walk, because its so near with TP. But if you take the car, you must take a turn far ahead, that what makes it look far. When we arrived at the KFC, I surely can see that TP is right there like 500m from the KFC, well I guess the three of us is just so tired to walk from TP 5 to TP1 then walk to this KFC.

Each of us order to S, since she the one who will take the line. Altough its already at 9.30 p.m the KFC still so crowded and the line get longer till the front door. We just finish the meal fast because we want to go back and rest in hotel. Our last driver tell us that we can actually walk from the KFC to the hotel, its near too. But again, we just too tired to walk, so we order another grab. While in our way back home, we saw a night run event, there are a lot of people running in running outfit. In like 10 minutes only, we arrive safely in the hotel.

At the hotel, we change to pajamas and eat our snack, until it finally comes to “Totalan” a.k.a “Billing”. While both of their money decreasing, mine its kinda increasing, since I’m the one who booked the hotel, the train and all the grab, so after the billing, they have to pay the equal amount of all fee divide by three. After that, we go to sleep and set our alarm in 4-5 a.m. in the morning, because our train schedule to go back to Malang its at 07.20 a.m.

The next day, we have to check out and immediately walk, again, from the hotel to the train station. Passing the same way like when we walk from rain station to the hotel. We passed this bridge above the river, then we saw 2 man take bath NAKED lol. I know its used to for people in Indonesia take a bath in the river, I did too (you can read in #TiaTripToToraja), but this is in a big city, so the water is not clear and clean enough for taking a bath. You can right away tell that the water is dirty just by looking at it colour.

Sadly, the hotel where we stayed didn’t provide us with breakfast. I know that this is a small hotel,
they don’t have a restaurant like in a big hotel, but its supposed to be not a excuse tho. Since when last year I go to Bali, I stayed in hotel right next to Waterboom Bali and close to the airport and Kuta beach either, its small and only have lobby and the room, yet they give me breakfast, a porridge. So we are in a condition, not having any breakfast yet we have to walk, thats make us hoping maybe there is small store that sell simple meal, such as fried rice or instant noodle, near the station. Well, there is one small store, but its kinda crowded with grown man so nahhh. We then go to the alfamart instead and buy bread and milk.

We eat the bread while wait our train to come. Well, we kinda wait too long, I think because we come to early. But well, it always better to come first and wait than be late and miss the train. When the train come, we get in and there is this small incident. There are 2 person sit in the seat that supposed to be belong for P. I double check my ticket and I 100% sure that we are already in the right train compartment.  Because I’m the oldest and P, she just have so kind heart so she kinda “not brave enough” to ask the two person to go away, specially because its a grandma with her grandson, so I am the one who talk with them.
“Excuse me mam, this is my friend seat. Business 3 seat 9C”
“But this is 9D Executive 3 right?”

And there you go where her fault is. She miss read the ticket, their supposed to be in executive class, yet where they are now its busines class. After she said that her ticket is executive, people behind and in front of her help me out by telling the grandma
“executive is back there, this is business class mam. Executive is way better back there, with air conditioner also”

So both of them moved to executive class, she said this is the first time she take “Mutirara Selatan” Train, thats why she kinda confused where the right compartment base on her ticket. For this kind of incident, I can 100% tolerate it, since she is already old and her grandson not grown up enough to understand. So that was totally acceptable. But thats not the only small incident happen in my compartment, when we depart from Malang there similar thing like this happen. This time is a young-adult woman, she is alone tho. She’s not sit in my friend seat but in another people seat that come after her. She already in the right class, economy class, but she supposed to be in the Economy 3, while that time she sat in Economy 2. So its just a slight mistake, but well if only she read more carefully, she doesn’t have to moved at all. I know everyone make mistake, but some mistake just not necessary at all haha. The most important you have to learn from your mistake and not make the same mistake twice.

I then arrived home home safely, taking public transportation from the train station to the terminal near my house and then walk. While S and P both picked up by their family. First thing I did when arrived home is definitely EAT THE CHEESECAKE haha. Because after I buy it, I dont have knife, plate and spoon to eat it. So I just bring it home <3 <3 <3. The taste make me want to go back to Surabaya just to buy the cake :'(
